Annual Food Drive
Each year, Providence Academy students, families, and staff come together for the Thanksgiving Food Drive, an initiative dedicated to providing meals for families in need. Throughout November, students organize and participate in a campus-wide effort to collect non-perishable food items, canned goods, and essential pantry staples.
Students work in teams to sort and package donations, ensuring each family receives a well-rounded selection of food to prepare a meaningful holiday meal. In partnership with local food banks and community shelters, volunteers also help distribute donations, providing hands-on support and encouragement to families facing food insecurity.
Beyond collecting food, students take time to reflect on the importance of gratitude and generosity, learning how small acts of service can have a profound impact on the well-being of others.
Neighborhood Clean-Up
In the spring, students step outside the classroom to care for the environment and their local community. The Neighborhood Clean-Up & Beautification Project is an annual event where students team up to remove litter, plant flowers, and restore outdoor spaces in nearby parks, schools, and neighborhoods.
Working alongside local city officials and environmental organizations, students take ownership of their surroundings by improving community spaces through:
• Litter pick-up efforts in parks and along sidewalks
• Gardening projects, including planting trees and flowers to enhance public areas
• Restoring outdoor structures, such as repainting playgrounds or fixing benches
This hands-on service project fosters a sense of responsibility for the world around them, teaching students how to be good stewards of their environment while working together toward a common goal.
Children's Shelter Gift Drive
The holiday season is a time of joy, but for many children in shelters, it can be a challenging period. Each December, Providence Academy students take part in the Holiday Gift Drive, an opportunity to bring warmth and happiness to children in need.
Students and families donate new toys, books, winter clothing, and handmade holiday cards for children staying in local shelters and foster care programs. Volunteers also spend time wrapping gifts and preparing personalized care packages, ensuring that each child receives something special.
In partnership with children’s homes and local outreach organizations, students have the opportunity to visit shelters, read stories, play games, and spread holiday cheer. This initiative not only provides tangible support but also reminds students of the power of kindness, generosity, and human connection during the holiday season.
